1. Overview of the Library

The library of Panyu campus relies on the library of Guangdong University of Technology, mainly available to teachers and students of SIE. With a total are of 1043㎡ and more than 250 reading seats, the library provides a beautiful environment and comprehensive services and facilities. The library comprises a number of branches including Circulation Stacks, Chinese Books Reading Room, English Books Reading Room and Leisure Interaction Zone. Moreover, digital information service equipments are installed in the library, such as the electronic borrowing machine and large-screen self-service interactive system. Currently, the library collections have totaled 102,000 volumes, with a focus on the fields of English Language Teaching (ELT) and related professional English learning. There are 337 kinds of English books, 22 kinds of English periodicals (including 5 kinds of original English journals) and 3 kinds of English newspapers.

The library adopts Integrated Library Automation System ( SulcmisIII ) which makes it convenient for teachers and students to share 4.014 million volumes of printed documents of Guangdong University of Technology. This advanced system enables the readers to borrow and return the books on different campuses, providing them with convenient information retrieval and pleasant experience of borrowing books.

With the full coverage of the 5G network on campus, the opening of the WeChat Public Platform of the GDUT Library, and the opening of the mobile library, the library of SIE, as one of the most important public service systems for international education, has simultaneously entered the book service "Micro-era" and "Mobile era". At present, the reading area in the library is equipped with network ports and computer terminals, and allows the teachers and students to access, query and use the abundant resources in the library of Guangdong University of Technology, including more than 2.38 million volumes of foreign and domestic electronic books, 94 kinds of imported Chinese and foreign online databases, 12.784 million electronic versions of graduate students' dissertations, and 44,300 kinds of electronic journals. With the help of VPN service, teachers and students can enjoy the network information service provided by the library, and freely access various database resources, borrow or renew books on any client on the campus network.
